About LiD

As a designer, inspiration comes from all kinds of places. Waiting in line at the grocery store; emptying the dishwasher first thing in the morning; wondering what to do with the kids at the weekend. You know, normal things that normal people do.And it’s during those times that I’m reminded how graphic design really works.

Design is more than a pleasing colour palette, balanced composition and carefully chosen images. It involves a knowledge of a variety of media, from conception to production, a large resource from which to draw ideas, and a wide range of skills to be able to execute those ideas. Graphic design has to be a part of life, and make sense without understanding the jargon and background. Good design is made for regular people, not designers.

This blog, Life Imitating Design, is about how design fits into life. Design is part of my life, not an addition to it or an annex.

I hope this blog makes you think, laugh and see graphic design as an integral part of life, without which the world we see would be dull, uninteresting and uninspiring.
